Seasoned Cable and Emerging Technology Professionals to Lend Industry Knowledge to Security Broadband Executives
AUSTIN, Texas (August 6, 2001) – Security Broadband Corp., a leading provider of premium home security and communications systems, today strengthened its board of directors by adding six members with extensive cable industry and technology experience. With the expertise gained from these new board members, Security Broadband reinforces its industry position, continuing to break new ground in home security service.

Jeffrey Abbas
In his role as a member of Security Broadband's Board of Directors, Jeffrey Abbas brings in-depth industry expertise of the distribution of video networks and broadband applications and the business models behind them. Abbas currently serves as vice president of programming for Adelphia Communications Corporation. Prior to joining Adelphia in 1993, Abbas was an attorney with the Washington, D.C., law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. He received a J.D. with high distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law and an A.B. cum laude in government from Harvard University.
Alain Allard
With more than 25 years in information technology and telecommunications, Alain Allard provides Security Broadband with extensive broadband software and infrastructure knowledge. He is currently the CEO of Belgian telecommunication companies Codenet S.A. and Coditel S.A. Codenet, a regional carrier operating in the Belgian and Luxembourg markets, was originally a subsidiary of Tractebel and grew into its own division as a result of data communication activity pioneered by Allard. Prior to that, he was responsible for the Integrated Business Systems division of Trasys, the IT integration and software development arm of Tractebel. Allard began his career at “La Société de traction et d’électricité,” the largest Belgian engineering bureau, where he developed simulation software. Allard is an engineering graduate of the Free University of Brussels.
Thomas R. Jokerst
With 30 years of experience in the cable industry, Thomas Jokerst is viewed as a pioneer in the cable industry. Currently the senior vice president of advanced technology for Charter Communications, Inc., Jokerst began his career with Cable Information Systems in New York. He has participated in CableLabs' Executive on Loan Program, where he evaluated proposals for Digital Video Compression Systems and developed digital video impulse noise reducer technology. Jokerst has served as chairman of the National Cable Television Association Engineering Committee and the CableLabs Consumer Electronics Subcommittee and is a senior member and former board member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE).
Robert S. Pick
With the addition of Robert Pick to the board, Security Broadband will gain significant strategic insight and industry relationships. Currently, he serves as senior vice president of corporate development for Comcast, where he is responsible for all corporate development merger and acquisition activities of the company. Prior to joining Comcast, Pick held various financial roles at Bell Atlantic Corporation and KPMG, Peat Marwick. Pick is a CPA who received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from Drexel University.
Christopher J. Shipman
Christopher Shipman brings an extensive network of financial and industry contacts to Security Broadband through his position as a general partner with Catalyst Investors, L.P., a NY based venture capital fund. Prior to joining Catalyst, Shipman was a vice president and director with Toronto Dominion Capital, where he was responsible for investments on behalf of the bank in the media and telecom sectors and served on numerous Boards of Directors. Prior to joining TD, Shipman served as an economist at Banker’s Trust Company. He holds a BA and MA from Boston University and an MBA from UCLA.
David M. Woodrow
As a member of Security Broadband's board of directors, David Woodrow provides extensive knowledge of the development of broadband services delivered over cable TV infrastructure. Currently president and CEO of Qwest Digital Media, Woodrow has a long tenure of cable industry experience, having also served as an executive vice president of new business development for Cox Communications, Inc. He has previously served on the boards of Excite@Home, Teleport Communications Group, the California Cable Television Association and the Cellular Telephone Industry Association. Woodrow was instrumental in the founding of Sprint PCS and worked on strategic planning and venture capital for Exxon.
